Manufacturing Jobs

If you already own a piece of Ontario California real estate, then you have probably already heard that one important sector in the city to the economy is manufacturing. The number and range of manufacturing jobs in this city is staggering. While you will find many of these jobs concentrated in the downtown core, there are factory jobs available in more out of the way towns as well.

However, it is the big cities like Ontario where manufacturing is most prevalent. Convenient shipping by road, rail, water, and air have all contributed to the huge number of factories complete with conveyor systems and industrial rotary valves which have been erected in many areas. Let's take a look at the different manufacturing niches where people in the province find employment.

Automotive

Perhaps there is no more important piece of the manufacturing puzzle in Ontario California as important as the automotive industry. In Canada, Oshawa, Brampton, and Windsor are just a few of the cities which include plants run by the biggest automobile manufacturers in the world.

In recent years, the North American car industry has run into significant trouble, and this has directly affected the job opportunities within these cities in manufacturing. GM and Ford have both announced layoffs at several plants. However, there is hope on the horizon as more innovative ideas take hold. Ford, for example, is opening a hybrid vehicle facility in the province of Ontario Canada, while foreign auto makers such as Honda and Toyota are buying up defunct facilities. With the test weights, expertise, and machinery already in place many plant locations are easily converted to operation sites for competing companies.

Assembly of the vehicles themselves is of course just a small part of the automobile manufacturing industry. There are plants all over Ontario which manufacture everything from engines to tires, and ship them to car dealer supply stores and dealerships across the continent.

Metals

Ontario is also well known for its steel and iron manufacturing industries. If you purchase steel support beams for a building or a cast iron keel for your yacht in Canada, odds are it will have been created somewhere in the city of Ontario.
Food Production

Many of the consumable products available in Canada are manufactured in different cities in the province of Ontario. Companies such as Quaker, Coca Cola, Pepsi, and other giants have plants in places such as Peterborough and Brampton.

Chemicals

Ontario has always been on the cutting edge of manufacturing production of advanced materials, from nuclear power to chemicals. Just outside the city is one of the world's leaders in the petrochemical industry. In fact, it was here the first North American oil drills were located. The city continues to build on this historical knowledge base today.

Nuclear energy is also a major export manufactured in the city of Ontario. Safe behind leaded glass, workers in Ontario Power Generation plants in Pickering, particularly, provide power to the rest of the state and beyond.

Pulp and Paper

Much of Ontario is covered in thick boreal forest, making the city an ideal location for companies who manufacture pulp and paper. This is one of the few segments of the manufacturing sector with operations based largely outside the city core. It provides employment for thousands of people in the Northern parts of the state.
